Have you seen? People are putting hearts in their windows. You may have seen this in the news – or in windows all around town. It started in Prince George with mom’s idea to get people to paste hearts in their windows to start a community-wide scavenger hunt. She wanted to give her girls something to do while they were at home social distancing because of the COVID-19 virus.
People are now either hanging, pasting or painting hearts in their windows. And when kids are out walking with their parents around town, they’re engaged in a scavenger hunt, counting the number of hearts they can find in windows!
The message behind the hearts is beautiful, “Spread Love, Not Virus.”
If you’re not already, why not take part in this! In fact, put up some hearts, and send us your pictures and we’ll post them on our website!
Churches in the Valley are also getting into the act. Many of our churches are encouraging their people to paint or put up paper crosses in their windows as our people begin to prepare for Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Some of our young people in the Valley have come up with the very creative idea of putting hearts inside their crosses!
And on Easter Morning, we would encourage you to add the words “He is Risen” in your window by your cross!
So, here’s the question: hearts or crosses? It doesn’t have to be either/or. It shouldn’t be one-or-the-other. Do both! Or at least a combination of both, as we demonstrate our love for Jesus as well as solidarity with our town of Smithers!
